Global Pet Expo, the pet industry’s largest annual trade show, is presented by the American Pet Products Association (APPA) and Pet Industry Distributors Association (PIDA). The 2009 Show featured 779 exhibitors, 2,306 booths and more than 3,000 new product launches. 4,100 pet product buyers from around the world attended.
In 2010, Global Pet Expo will take place March 25-27 in Orlando, FL. Global Pet Expo is open to independent retailers, distributors, mass-market buyers, and other qualified professionals. The show is not open to the public.
Earning reports are dismal in this recessed economy, but the pet industry seems to be cruising right along. Retailers say purchases are steady, although shifted, and may even climb to record numbers in 2009.
A record number of Americans own pets—and they are spending a record amount of money to feed, clothe and care for their wee beasts. But is all the attention actually good for the critters? Why we need to remember the lessons of the wild kingdom.
