Press Registration

Press Credential Qualifications

Global Pet Expo provides press badges to qualified media to cover the Show, however, media professionals must be able to prove their credentials to qualify. You are strongly encouraged to pre-register. Press who attempt to register on-site may be turned away if proper credentials are not verified, and may miss out on important news leading up to the Show. If you submit credentials after March 1, 2017, please be prepared to show them on-site. All credential requests are subject to approval by show management.

If you are not a credentialed journalist, please register as an Industry Visitor. For more information on Industry Visitor registration, contact annie@americanpetproducts.org.

Who Qualifies for a Press Badge?

Media accreditation is reserved for working journalists in print, broadcast and digital media on assignment or conducting research for established publications and media outlets. This includes reporters, editors and publishers. Film crews and photographers must have proof of assignment.

While we are typically only looking for one of the following from you, Global Pet Expo staff may request additional information.  Global Pet Expo staff reserves the right to deny an applicant a press badge if sufficient credentials are not provided.

Print Media

  • Masthead from a current issue of a publication listing you as an editorial contributor.
  • Article published within the past three months with your byline.
  • Business card from your media outlet reflecting your editorial role.

Broadcast Media

  • Letter from the editor/producer on station/network letterhead or from a company email address that states you are covering Global Pet Expo on assignment.
  • Press photo ID from your media outlet.
  • Business card from your media outlet reflecting your editorial role.

Digital Media/Bloggers

  • Masthead from a current issue of a consumer online publication or blog listing you as an editorial contributor. The site must be previously established, independent and regularly updated with original and current relevant news.
  • Bloggers must have created new content within the past three months on topics related to the pet industry. Product giveaways and contests do not qualify. Bloggers may be asked to provide evidence from a data-tracking service (i.e. Compete.com or Google Analytics) that unique visitors exceed 5,000 per month. Blogs will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
  • YouTube channels must have created new content within the past six months on topics related to the pet industry. YouTubers must provide evidence from a data-tracking service (i.e. Google Analytics) demonstrating a minimum of 500,000 average monthly views.

Freelancers & Video Production Companies

  • Letter from the editor/producer on station/network letterhead or from a company email address that states you are covering Global Pet Expo on assignment.
  • Proof of regular freelance journalism activity. (published/broadcasted within the past four months)
  • Business card reflecting editorial role.

Who Does Not Qualify as Press?

  • Bloggers with less than 5,000 unique visitors per month (additionally, all blogs are evaluated on a case-by-case basis).
  • Freelancers who have not published or broadcast stories related to the pet industry in the past year and do not have a letter of assignment for Global Pet Expo.
  • Facebook, Twitter, personal blogs, forums, communities and user groups will not be considered for press badges.
  • Production/film crews/photographers hired to film an exhibitor at Global Pet Expo (must register through exhibitor).
  • Friends and family of journalists.
  • Sales, marketing and advertising executives and other non-editorial media staff.
  • Company presidents, general managers, industry consultants, and public relations professionals (agency or company based), writers for company newsletters and websites.
  • Anyone whose principal purpose for attending Global Pet Expo is, in our judgment, for reasons other than covering it as working news media. Global Pet Expo officials reserve the right to deny press credentials.

Registration Approval

Approval for press credentials is contingent upon receiving the above-mentioned information along with your registration submission. A history of being registered previously for Global Pet Expo does not guarantee approval or waive the accreditation requirement. Misconduct or misrepresentation of position and/or publication/news organization may result in loss of press credentials and jeopardize future attendance.

We reserve the right to modify this policy without public notice and to revoke previously issued Global Pet Expo accreditation/registration at any time.
