(Greenwich, CT)- Officials from Global Pet Expo along with Pet Business are proud to announce the first-ever Global Pet Expo Retailer Excellence Awards to be presented at Global Pet Expo 2012 during an Awards Ceremony set to take place at the Show's Pet Industry Breakfast, Thursday, March 1 at 7:45 am in the Valencia Ballroom at the Orange County Convention Center.
"Retailers play an integral role in the success of Global Pet Expo, and we are thrilled to be offering recognition for their efforts through these new awards," said Andrew Darmohraj, senior vice president of the American Pet Products Association (APPA); APPA presents the show in conjunction with the Pet Industry Distributors Association (PIDA). "We truly value and appreciate all that our pet retailers do for this industry."
The Retailer Excellence Awards were designed to honor outstanding independent pet stores in a variety of categories. Awards will be given to one retailer in each of the seven different award categories:
(1) Global Pet Expo Retailer of the Year Award
This award is designed to recognize a retailer who excels overall in sales, service, design, and community. Nominees should also provide a clean, safe and professional environment for customers and employees alike while demonstrating care, concern and knowledge of companion animals.
(2) Merchandising Excellence Award
Retailers considered for this award should demonstrate creative techniques to promote sales and services.
(3) Multi-Service Excellence Award
This award recognizes retailers who effectively offer and implement a broad spectrum of services to their customers, including but not limited to, grooming, training, boarding, etc.
(4) Marketing Excellence Award
In this category, consideration should be given to retailers who have executed sales and promotional techniques to attract customers and increase sales. Recognition should be given for effective use of advertising and public relations mediums including, but not limited to, print, digital, electronic, and social media.
(5) Customer Service Excellence Award
This category is specifically designed to acknowledge the professional and friendly relationships a retailer's team has with their customers. Recognition should be given to techniques that address the needs and questions of pet owners and engage them in a knowledgeable way. Recognition should be given to staff demonstrating familiarity with products and services, the ability to effectively address issues and concerns related to products and services, as well as being courteous to their customers.
(6) Excellence in Store Design Award
Consideration for this award should focus on the visual displays that a retailer uses to increase sales. A store's curb appeal, including window displays, as well as the lighting and display fixtures inside the store, should stand out and demonstrate the ability to engage customers.
(7) Community Service Award
This category recognizes a retailer who has made a connection with its community because of their involvement in a variety of events and/or causes that reach out beyond their four-walls. Efforts should demonstrate fellowship, integrity, a positive attitude, and a clear demonstration that the organization is committed to giving back to its community.
Award nominations will be accepted until December 20, 2011 and may be submitted via email at email@example.com or fax at 646-674-0102. Nominations will be accepted from manufacturers, retailers, distributors, and members of the press.
