Global Pet Expo Set to Sign Contract With Orange County Convention Center Through 2019

-Officials from Global Pet Expo, the world’s largest annual pet products trade show, set to sign deal that will mean millions of dollars to the Orange County, FL economy -

(Greenwich, CT) – To kick off the 10th Annual Global Pet Expo, taking place March 12-14, 2014, Andy Darmohraj, American Pet Products Association (APPA) Executive Vice President & COO announced today that he plans to sign a contract with the Orange County Convention Center (OCCC) in Orlando, Florida, making it the official site of Global Pet Expo through 2019. 

Darmohraj, along with Teresa Jacobs, Mayor of Orange County, FL, and OCCC Executive Director Kathie Canning, will meet Monday, March 10, 2014 at 4pm in the Gary Sain Café at the OCCC to finalize the contract.  This deal will mean more than $25 million per year in estimated economic impact to Orange County. 

“We are thrilled to be able to call the OCCC home to Global Pet Expo for the next five years,” said Darmohraj.  “Orlando has proven to be an ideal location for our show attendees for the past several years. It has fantastic accommodations, restaurants, attractions, and a state-of-the-art convention center. Orlando International Airport offers easy access for domestic and international travelers. Our Show has thrived in this setting and we look forward to continued growth.”

Global Pet Expo was recently named one of the 50 fastest growing trade shows in total attendance in the Trade Show Executive (TSE) Fastest 50 rankings, and has been recognized for the past five years with the Trade Show Executive Annual Gold 100 Award. The 2014 Show will feature the debut of 3,000 new pet products, more booths and exhibiting companies than ever, and strong media and buyer attendance. Not only is Global Pet Expo the pet industry’s largest annual trade show boasting nearly 3,000 booths in 300,000 net square feet of space, but it’s also the most important industry event of the year bringing 15,000 people to the Orlando area. Nearly 1,000 companies from around the world are here showcasing the latest products available for all types of pets including dogs, cats, birds, fish, reptiles, small animals and horses.

Global Pet Expo, the pet industry’s largest annual trade show, is presented by the American Pet Products Association (APPA) and Pet Industry Distributors Association (PIDA).
