APPMA and PIDA Announce Changes to Global Pet Expo Booth Selection Process

(Greenwich, CT.), — The American Pet Products Manufacturers Association (APPMA) and Pet Industry Distributors Association (PIDA) have announced a change to the way exhibitors will reserve booth space at future Global Pet Expo shows. For Global Pet Expo 2008, which will be held Feb. 14-16 in San Diego, Calif., all exhibitors will be required to register via the Internet.

Global Pet Expo’s new online-only registration at www.globalpetexpo.org will make the booth-selection process which is done on a first-come-first-served basis fairer by eliminating the impact of outside influences, such as the U.S. Postal Service, on when the applications are received.

As in years past, the booth selection process will also factor in a priority-point system.Exhibitors are assigned one priority point for each year of membership and for each year that they exhibited at the show.

“The system that we have in place is very different from what many other shows do,” explains Andrew Darmohraj, APPMA Senior Vice President. “Most trade shows base their priority points on how big your booth is or how much money you spend. Ours is a very fair process; the points are based on the number of years you’ve been a member and the number of years you’ve exhibited. So it doesn’t matter if you’re big or small, you get the same amount of points, based on what your relationship is with the organization and with the show.”

APPMA will mail potential exhibitors the show floor plan prior to the show, tentatively in April, showing the facility layout, booth location and cost. The remainder of the prospectus, the application and all of the other information, such as the display rules and the number of priority points the company, will only be available on the Global Pet Expo website.

Upon submitting their registration, exhibitors will receive an instant confirmation that their applications have been received. Booth assignments should be distributed approximately five to six months before the show. Exhibitors are scheduled to access the 2008 booth-space application, via the Internet, on May 15.

Global Pet Expo, the largest annual pet industry trade show in the world, is presented by the American Pet Products Manufacturers Association (APPMA) and Pet Industry Distributors Association (PIDA).
